Air New Zealand is a case in point – and a brand that turned to Kordia’s two-way digital radio network to answer their complex communication needs.
Wanting to ensure communication devices being used at Wellington Airport met their unique needs, Air New Zealand began an assessment of KorKor—Kordia’s two way digital radio network.
For KorKor to fit the bill, it needed to provide crisp and clear communication within an environment challenged by significant noise levels and signal transmissions. Radio devices had to be robust, available as handheld and in-vehicle installations—and provide diverse communication options for the team.
“KorKor is the equivalent of three devices in one,” says Aaron Olphert, Manager of Products and Strategy for Kordia. “A device that works as a two-way radio, KorKor also has features similar to a mobile phone, texting capability and an emergency alert function.”
“Each of these features played a key part in KorKor being chosen as the right communication tool for Air New Zealand Wellington. So did our ability to address safety issues around transmission of electronic signals close to fuelling points, and adapt to the changing requirements of the installation,” he says.
Kordia Project Managers also took on multiple–party liaison with AirBP, ExxonMobil and LSG SkyChefs—airport businesses that took a combined ten extra handsets so they could continue to communicate with Air New Zealand Wellington once they switched over to the more advanced KorKor business tool.
Air New Zealand Wellington now has a pool of 100+ KorKor handheld and in-vehicle devices. Four tarmac golf buggies have also been equipped, with an investment of additional devices now being considered.
“This particular deployment is an example of Kordia’s expertise and ‘can do’ attitude ensuring that Air NZ Wellington’s unique requirements were heard and understood.”
